Leslie “Tiger” Fitzpatrick signs with Rochester Rhinos as the Rhinos bolster their squad with 3 new midfielders.

Winston Salem, NC – The Rochester Rhinos have continued their efforts of improving by signing Trinidad & Tobago star forward Leslie “Tiger” Fitzpatrick. With the signing of Tiger, the Rhinos add a seasoned international with over 25 caps at the international stage.

The quick and agile native of Trinidad and Tobago comes to the Rhinos from W Connection in Trinidad and hopes to use this trip back to America to shine once again. While studying in school, Fitzpatrick attended Columbia University in New York and finished his senior year as a member of the All-Ivy team. Tiger began his professional soccer career with the Colombus Crew and later signed with Real Salt Lake. After a stint in the MLS, Tiger played for the Atlanta Silverbacks before returning to Trinidad and Tobago to play with W Connection.

“Leslie brings the attributes of a quality player at the international level,” said John Ellinger, Fitzpatrick’s head coach while with the Atlanta Silverbacks. “He is a left-footed player that can play both centrally and out wide in the midfield.” Ellinger also pointed out Fitzpatrick’s “good pace and technical skill” which can help lead any team to a championship.

Leading up to the 2008 Season, Tiger was on trial with Jonkopings Sodra but was unable to come to a financial arrangement with the Swedish Superettan club. “As some doors close, others always seem to open” said Tiger “I am honored to be asked to join the Rhinos. After a recent change of ownership and coaching staff there will always be pressure to perform, but I love a challenge.”

“In an effort to bolster our midfield, we have selected three players with a wealth of experience, in both the MLS and USL, and we’re excited to have Tiger, Luke and Ze join the Rhinos,” said Matt Ford, President of the Rhinos.

The Rhinos begin their 2008 preseason with a match against the Bonnies from St. Bonaventure University on this Wednesday, April 9th at 7:00 p.m. The preseason will continue through April with the start of the regular season being a match against two-time USL-1 champion Charleston Battery on Friday, May 2nd at 7:30 p.m.
