Darryl Roberts, Osei Telesford and Kern Cupid named to Trinidad and Tobago National side for upcoming friendly against England.

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – May 29, 2008 – MLF Sports announced today that Darryl Roberts, Osei Telesford and Kern Cupid have all been placed on Trinidad and Tobago’s 18-man roster for the match against England set for June 1, 2008. Head Coach Maturana stated, “We see this as a very important preparation match against England and we want to use the players who will be part of the squad that will help us get to the next World Cup. This is not an exhibition match.”

Darryl Roberts has just finished the 2008 Season with his club side, Sparta Rotterdam, and looks to make his 15th international appearance in the match against England. Roberts stated, “I am honored to be chosen to represent my country in such an important match, I look forward to the opportunity to play with such word class players and help Trinidad further prepare for the 2010 World Cup.” Darryl, who has been a consistent member of the Trinidad team for the last year and a half, looks to further display his striking capabilities as Coach Maturana evaluates which players will play in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers.

Osei Telesford, who has been struggling through injuries for the past year, recently began the 2008 season with his club side the Puerto Rico Islanders. The Islanders are coming off a win in Trinidad against San Juan Jabloteh guaranteeing a spot in the upcoming CONCACAF Champions League. Osei, back from injury, netted Trinidad’s second goal in their last international match against Jamaica. Kern Cupid, one of the young stars of the Trinidad National team, will look to make a start against England. The 23-year-old Cupid, a member of W Connection, club in the TT Pro League, has played five games for T&T since making his debut in a 0-0 draw with El Salvador last year and Francisco Maturana has given him the nod in recent times. “It’s been great to get the chance to play for the national team. Anytime you get the chance to put on the colors of T&T is a great achievement.. it’s a proud achievement knowing that all the hard work that I’ve put in has paid off. Hopefully I can be consistent and the coach can realize this and keep me in the squad for some time to come,” Cupid told TTFF Media.
